CBD for the dog
Great potential
Cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD, has become very popular in recent months. But it is not for the exclusive use of humans, because animals also possess an endocannabinoid system (ECS) and can therefore benefit from its health benefits. Originally the production of CBD was only intended for humans, but some people saw their dogs, suffering, sick or tired, and thought of giving them a few drops of CBD oil. The result was there, and we will explain why.
What is the CBD ?
CBD (Cannabidiol) is a molecule coming from industrial hemp (Cannabis Sativa), it belongs to the family of cannabinoids. Known for its numerous therapeutic virtues, CBD has already been the subject of much scientific research. When we talk about cannabis, we can't help but think of THC, which is a psychotropic cannabinoid, it makes you high. CBD (cannabidiol), has no psychotropic effect, its marketing and sale is therefore perfectly legal. Produced from hemp, CBD is generally consumed in the form of CBD oil, it is also in this format, very practical that we offer it to your animals. A few drops of CBD in their kibbles, and that's all there is to it. What makes CBD so special is its ability to work with the endocannabinoid system.
What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) ?
The endocannabinoid system (SEC), and the great actor of cell homeostasis, and one of the greatest medical discoveries of the 20th century. It was only in 1988 that its existence was discovered. Its functions are numerous and all the physiological processes of our body and that of our animals (a dog for example) can involve its intervention. One could say, taking a great shortcut, that the CES is the system of systems (circulatory, endocrine, immune, skeletal, digestive, etc.). It is the great self-regulating system of the organism, it influences all bodily functioning, whether physical, mental or emotional. The SEC uses cannabinoids to transmit certain signals and regulate homeostasis.
Clinical endocannabinoid deficiency (CED)
According to Dr. Ethan Russo, neurologist, psychopharmacology researcher, and author recognized in numerous scientific journals: "Clinical deficiency in endocannabinoids (cannabinoids produced by the human body) may explain why so many people are sick." Dr. Russo is Medical Director at Phytecs, specializing in the development of advanced therapies targeting endocannabinoid deregulation associated with inflammatory and metabolic diseases, eczema, cancer, depression, migraine and insomnia. The phytocannabinoids present in certain plants such as hemp are comparable to the endocannabinoids naturally produced by the human body or certain animals such as dogs.
CBD to treat what ?
CBD (cannabidiol), in addition to participating in the proper functioning of the endocannabinoid system, has many virtues. Thus, it can be used in dogs suffering from arthritis, in stressed or aggressive animals and many other things. (inflammation, convulsions, skin problems, pain, etc...).
